In Call of Duty, split-second latency determines who wins a face-to-face gunfight. If you are dealing with a Strict NAT Type 3 on your PlayStation, your router's built-in security features are actively delaying incoming game packets from match lobbies. To drop your ping and fix party connection failures, you need to open specific lanes on your local network.
Step 1: Assign a Static IP to Your PlayStation
To prevent your router from changing your PS5's internal address, set up a permanent local IP address.
- Go to Settings > Network > View Connection Status on your console.
- Note down the current IPv4 Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway.
- Go back to Set Up Internet Connection, press the Options button on your controller, and select Advanced Settings.
- Set IP Address Settings to Manual and input the numbers recorded above.
Step 2: Log Into Your Router Panel
- Enter your router's local gateway address (like 192.168.1.1) into any web browser.
- Input your network admin credentials to access the internal dashboard.
Step 3: Enter Call of Duty PlayStation Ports
Navigate directly to your Port Forwarding / NAT Forwarding tab. Add separate rules assigned directly to your PlayStation's static IP address:
TCP: 3478-3480 UDP: 3074, 3478-3479
